LEARN ENGLISH Through Film and TV

I help English learners improve their language skills through film and TV. Join me and learn the way English is really spoken.

As an English learner, do you struggle with...

Understanding native speakers

Understanding native speakers when they talk fast?

Movies, TV shows, and real conversations don't sound like your classroom audio tracks. I train your ears to hear natural English: accents, speed, and all.

Remembering vocabulary

Remembering phrases and knowing when to use them?

You've learned vocabulary before, but it doesn't stick, and you're not sure how to use it naturally. I teach English in context, so it actually makes sense and stays in your memory.

Feeling confident speaking

Feeling confident enough to actually speak?

Knowing the rules isn't the same as using the language. I show you how English feels: the tone, the intention, so you can use it naturally and confidently.

Most courses teach rules.
I teach you how English feels.

Every Hollywood English lesson is built around a real scene, not textbook dialogues, not fake conversations. Actual moments from films and TV shows you already know.

I break down the vocabulary, the idioms, the tone, and the intention behind the words. So you understand not just what's being said, but how and why. That's the difference between knowing English and actually using it.

Why learn with film and TV?

Because movies and shows reflect real conversations. You pick up slang, idioms, tone, and cultural references that traditional lessons leave out.

In our Sherlock lesson, we explore how native speakers use sarcasm, emotion, and timing. Things textbooks just can't teach.

Get the culture behind the language

Will's bold line "How do you like them apples?" is more than words. It's attitude, confidence, and culture packed into one phrase.

Hi, I'm Murray.

I'm an English educator, actor, and cultural communicator with 14 years of international experience. I've taught learners of all ages and backgrounds, from private schools to corporate settings.

I've lived in 7 countries and travelled to over 40, which gave me a deep love for global cultures and an obsession with how language really works in the real world.

I spent a decade in Beijing, acting in over 50 films and TV shows and hosting China Insight on national television. Now I combine my love of language, film, and culture to help learners speak English confidently, one scene at a time.

How it works

Three steps. No complicated system. Just you, a scene, and better English.

1

Watch the scene

Start with a real clip from a film or TV show. No fake dialogues, no scripted classroom English.

2

Read the breakdown

I explain the vocabulary, idioms, tone, and why native speakers talk the way they do in that moment.

3

Use it naturally

Language tied to a real story sticks. You'll remember phrases because you remember the scene they came from.
